Gauge refers to the depth of the product
Remember a shallower product can be used in a deeper well
but not the other way around!
E.g. a 20mm deep matwell could use a 16mm gauge matting
but not a 22mm gauge matting.

Open mat systems allow dirt to fall through the mat
& collect in the well below, whereas closed systems collect the dirt
in recessed areas within the mat making cleaning easier
