The Challenge

There’s no question that shopping centres provide a more sociable alternative to the online shopping experience. As well as satisfying community needs, many now also support charities, act as event venues, and promote themselves as leisure destinations.

Romford’s Brewery Centre successfully combines its role as a leading regional shopping and leisure destination with its on-going support for community partners. By dedicating time and space to local events and exhibitions, and through playing a key role in educational and youth projects, the centre encourages some 11.2m visitors annually. This variation of usage and volume of footfall over an area of 49,000m2 means that special attention must be paid to maintenance of the floor.

Challenged with the provision of entrance matting that is not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing, Syncros Entrance Matting Systems was appointed to provide a suitable solution.

The Solution

Syncros has fulfilled the criteria as set out by The Brewery Centre by creating a 22m2 matting area using Milliken Forma tiles for their moisture retaining property, bordered by Milliken Tergo and Milliken Prior tiles which create an effective scraping action for dirt removal.

Aluminium ramped edging provides a seamless appearance, allowing the matting to blend in with existing flooring and eliminating any trip hazard associated with surface mounted matting.

The Results

Andrew Bonnici, Operations Manager at The Brewery Centre. “We’ve had encouraging comments regarding both the aesthetics and practicality of the new matting.”

Syncros’ Milliken Obex matting tiles are the ultimate in modular matting systems. Colours are specially chosen to conceal dirt and, because the tiles wash well and resist fading, they are easily maintained

Tiles can be cut to fit to the exact size of the area required, without the expense of bespoke matting and, should a tile become damaged, it can be colour matched and easily replaced without having to remove the entire mat.
